Diabetes is a disease that causes glucose levels to rise in the bloodstream.
The food you eat is converted into sugar (glucose) and released into the bloodstream. An increase in sugar level signals the pancreas to release insulin. Insulin is a hormone that lets the cells use the glucose in the blood.
In diabetes, either the body does not produce enough insulin or can’t use it well as it should, causing the sugar to remain in the blood. Over time the high sugar levels in the blood cause severe damage to various body functions and organs, including the Heart, Kidneys, Feet, and Vision.
There are primarily three major types of diabetes Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational diabetes. All these types have different causes for their occurrence.
In type 1 diabetes, the patient’s immune system attacks the beta cells (that make a hormone called insulin) in the pancreas, which is essential to use the glucose present in the blood as energy by the cells.
In type 2 diabetes, the body cells have developed a resistance towards the insulin; thus, the cells do not respond to insulin, or the pancreas does not produce enough insulin to provide energy to the body.
Gestational diabetes is diabetes that women develop during pregnancy, which occurs due to the hormonal changes the female goes through during pregnancy.
When the pancreas makes little or no insulin. Also called juvenile diabetes, as it usually occurs in small children; however, it can appear at any age.
When cells develop insulin resistance, they don’t respond to insulin normally. Caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, this is the most common type of diabetes.
It is when the pancreas does not make enough insulin during pregnancy in women. This is due to the hormonal changes that occur in women during pregnancy.

The treatment of diabetes is focused on managing sugar levels through diet and exercise and curing the root cause of its occurrence.
Diabetes is a lifestyle disorder and can be effectively cured if the personnel focus on adopting a healthy lifestyle, but only lifestyle changes cannot cure diabetes alone.
In most cases, the inability of cells to either produce or respond to insulin is hindered, causing the sugar levels to rise in someone’s bloodstream. An ideal treatment that focuses on boosting the ability of the pancreas to produce insulin and reduce the resistance of cells towards insulin can help achieve a cure.
However, conventional treatments only help to drain out the excess sugar from the blood, causing them to pursue the treatment lifelong. Ayurvedic treatment methods are designed to cure the cause of high glucose levels. Ayurveda helps the pancreas heal or reduce insulin resistance. In both cases, ayurveda cures diabetes from its roots.
Along with the treatment of diabetes, a healthy diet works as a key to opening the door to quick relief from the disease. If the patient did not focus on managing the sugar levels by themselves, the body would not recover from the disease as it would be struggling from the complications of high sugar in the blood.
A patient should choose a diet that can help their body recover from the very first day. However, both the treatment and the diet should be taken by consulting a doctor, as the severity of the case decides what should be the ideal diet plan for the individual.
